Real-Time Study: Understanding the Response of the Lebanese Diaspora

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) launched an exploratory study to assess how remittances from diaspora communities could be leveraged to support the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Venezuela.

This study builds on a previous mapping of over 126 diaspora organisations responding to the crisis and aimed to enhance understanding of their role in humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.

Developing a methodology to profile the skills of the Malagasy diaspora in France and Switzerland

The action aims to mobilise diaspora professionals to equip the Diaspora Directorate with the tools and knowledge needed to profile the technical, intellectual and financial skills of the Malagasy diaspora.

Bridging pension gaps. ICMPD examines how temporary and circular migration affects access to pension rights for third-country nationals in the EU, focusing on legal frameworks, bilateral agreements, and practical barriers in selected countries.

It analyses conditions for the accumulation and portability of pension entitlements and identifies gaps in existing systems. Building on this, the project formulates policy and operational recommendations to improve pension portability and support more equitable and sustainable EU labour mobility frameworks.

Mid-term evaluation of the TADY project Madagascar, Africa

As evaluator with ITAR Consultants, my role was to navigate the complexity of engaging with government counterparts, implementing partners, local authorities, volunteers and diaspora actors to understand not only what has been delivered, but how ownership, coordination and trust are progressively constructed. Beyond performance assessment, the evaluation explored the conditions that allow diaspora engagement to move from political intention to embedded public policy practice.

El Salvador in the World

Developing a Diaspora Engagement Strategy for the Salvadoran diaspora. Description: With this project ICMPD/EUDiF supports the Government of El Salvador in developing a comprehensive and forward-looking Diaspora Engagement Strategy, building on existing initiatives and institutional progress led by the Viceministry of Diaspora and Human Mobility. Through a participatory approach, it engages public institutions, diaspora communities, and civil society to strengthen coordination, policy coherence, and long-term impact. The project also reinforces monitoring and evaluation systems and promotes mechanisms to systematically integrate diaspora contributions into national development policymaking.

With this project ICMPD/EUDiF supports Senegal in strengthening its capacity to profile diaspora skills and enhance data-driven policymaking, building on its advanced diaspora engagement framework and Vision 2050 objectives. It combines training, a pilot skills profiling exercise, and the development of a data governance framework to improve the management and use of diaspora-related data. By reinforcing institutional coordination and evidence-based approaches, the project contributes to maximising diaspora contributions to economic growth, social development, and public sector innovation.
